There are hundreds of people who are deprived of even the basic necessities of life. They are in such a miserable condition that they have to fend for them even when they are in the clutches of fatal diseases.
Whenever Madhyamam Daily has brought out the sad plight of these unfortunate brethren through its pages, the public response has been overwhelming. The understanding that still there are wet patches of goodness and kindness among the receding dry realms of contemporary human minds has prompted us to launch this novel scheme "Santhwanam", which was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Kerala, Sri A.K. Antony on the 27th of October, 2001 at Calicut.
